Scripts or Behaviors Are Not Updated with a New Layer ID When You Change the Layer ID

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft® Office 2003, All Editions
  • Microsoft® Office FrontPage 2003

Symptoms

When you change the layer ID of any layer by using task pane of the layer, any scripts or Behaviors that call that layer are not updated with the new layer ID. As a result, the scripts or Behaviors may not function correctly.

Cause

This problem occurs because changes to layers in FrontPage 2003 are coded as manual changes; therefore, FrontPage 2003 does not parse the Web page code for any scripts that are attached to the Web page.

Workaround

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

  1. On the Edit menu, click Replace.
  2. In the Find what: area, type the previous layer ID.
  3. In the Replace with area, type the new layer ID.
  4. Click Close.
  5. Save the Web page.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft® products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
