Upgrade to Office SharePoint Server 2010

Buy Hosted MOSS 2007 Today… upgrade to SharePoint 2010 Server “tomorrow.”

Really?

Yep, jump on board today with one of our MOSS 2007 plans and we’ll give you a free upgrade to the new 2010 SharePoint Server.

How is this possible?
When you purchase a MOSS 2007 Hosting Plan, our SharePoint engineers will run a “pre-upgrade” check on any site to ensure that it’s SharePoint 2010 ready.

When hosted SharePoint 2010 becomes available, we’ll run the upgrade check again to ensure your site is still 2010 compatible. If you get the green light, we’ll set you free in 2010… for free.

Ready for the caveats?

( you knew they were coming )

  1. This is only for environments that pass the “pre-upgrade” check.
  2. This is only for our dedicated server environments.
( not for shared/multi-tenant sites… at least not yet )
  3. For existing clients, we’ll gladly help with 2010 upgrades, but the pre-upgrade checker is a must.
( Who knows what’s happened to your server the last 2 years. We’ll dig in and let you know what we find )
  4. For any 32-bit server environment, well… this may take some elbow grease.
( Again, we’re glad to do the work, but that part about being free… well… )

Why the caveats?

  • SharePoint Server 2010 is a whole new platform in many ways.
For clients who’ve been running MOSS 2007 for a year or two, many customizations and tweaks may have happened along the way that could hinder a nice, smooth upgrade.
  • 32 bit upgrades will likely not pass our “pre-grade checker.”
  • We’re just trying to be honest.
We want to get everyone who’s ready for 2010 moved over. But we just don’t know what we’ll find when we pull back the covers. Microsoft has said this definitely won’t be as easy as flipping a switch and we agree.

Got questions?

We’ve done a ton of SharePoint 2010 research and we have likely ran into more “gotchas” than even Microsoft has. One thing for sure, we’ll be ready and we’ll help you get there too!
